Penarth to Clevedon
This is one of our firm favourites, and is for many people, their first channel swim in the Bristol Channel.
Situated at the “shallow” end of the channel, the route starts at Penarth slipway next to the iconic Penarth Pier, and finishes at the slipway in Clevedon, next to the famous outdoor lido. This route is around 25km once you take into account the boomerang route created by the tides. The first half takes you on the end of the outgoing tide down towards Flat Holm island, and then, as the tide turns you will be swept up towards Clevedon towards your final destination.
With any luck, you will avoid landing on the pebbles next to the slipway, as the rocks make for an extremely ungraceful exit after a 7hr swim if you have sensitive feet. Ask Bryce.. he knows! :)
